The artwork

Front: A red-and-orange engraving of a pinisi, the two-masted Bugis-Makassar schooner, labelled PERAHU PINISI, running under full sail across a choppy sea. BANK INDONESIA sits at the top right beside the Garuda Pancasila arms, over the date 1992 and the word DIREKSI, with signatures for the Gubernur and the Direktur below. The value reads SERATUS RUPIAH above a large 100; the left corner repeats 100 over a lettered B panel.

Back: Anak Gunung Krakatau — the young cone risen inside the caldera of Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait — shown mid-eruption, a heavy plume boiling from the summit while the low ridge of the crater rim runs off across the water in pale green and blue. BANK INDONESIA arches over the scene. Serial number GJP083341 appears twice, and a Javanese-style carved rosette fills the left half.

In circulation

Issued on the 1992 date and printed through the following years, this was Indonesia's last 100 rupiah banknote. Inflation and the rupiah's collapse in the late 1990s emptied it of value, and the small aluminium 100 rupiah coin took over everyday use before Bank Indonesia withdrew the note.
