Front: Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in three-quarter profile, looking right, filling the whole right half in soft green line-engraving. Behind him a large star in dull red, and the value spelled out twice — "20 YİRMİ TÜRK LİRASI" — above the legal formula citing the law of 14 January 1970, no. 1211. Below that the two signature panels, BAŞKAN and BAŞKAN YARDIMCISI, and the Banknot Matbaası imprint dated 2009.
Back: Mimar Kemaleddin, dated 1870–1927 beside his collar, moustached and in a high-buttoned jacket. To his left, a perspective drawing of one of his Ankara buildings, an arcaded facade of stacked round arches running back into the picture. Further left, a cube, a sphere and a cylinder in outline — the primary solids of the architect's trade — with a gold circular pattern above. Serial E 229 296814 twice.
The ninth emission group, introduced on 1 January 2009 to replace the short-lived "New Turkish Lira" notes, which lost legal tender status at the end of that year. This 20 lira design remains current, later printings differing only in date and in the governor's and deputy governor's signatures.
